本商品は、雪深い越後で織られた特産品です。
経糸には、和紙をテープ状にカットした後、撚りをかけた紙布糸を用いています。
緯糸には、丁寧に手績みされた楮糸を手機で一本一本、投げ杼を用いて織り上げられています。
紙布の持つ柔らかさと、楮布の持つ温和な光沢と、深く渋みのある色調は、古く成るほど落ち着いた色合いを出してきます。
本商品と楮布は原料に同じ楮の皮を用いています。素朴で、野趣味あふれる生地風は楮紙布の持ち味です。

This product is a specialty woven in Echigo, a region which often experiences deep snow.
The warp thread is made of washi paper which is cut into tape. and twisted into paper yarn. The weft threads are made from carefully hand-spun kozo (paper mulberry) which are woven into the warp by a hand operated shuttle.
The paper brings softness, and the kozo brings a slight lustre. The deep yet subtle color of the obi will deepen with age and use.

This product and Kozo cloth are made from the same Kozo bark. The simple and wild texture is the characteristic of Kozo paper cloth.
