Y. & SONS Original Natural Dyed Fan
Founded in 1899, The Sugiyama Emido workshop has been making fans, calendars, and many other traditional Japanese paper crafts. We have commissioned this renowned workshop to create one of a kind fans for our store.
This fan is an excellent product made with carefully selected materials and craftsmanship.

We have chosen to use the highest quality "Hon Mino" paper made of 100% mulberry by craftsman Tadashi Sawamura. This paper is officially recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Dye is made by boiling the bark, fruits, grasses and trees in an underground dye vat. Many different techniques are used to prepare the paper for dying such as folding and shibori(tie dye).

Please enjoy the delicate color and pleasant breeze.
